Going home, with trepidation

Mom is going home from the convalescent home this weekend. Today we are going to go get the house set up for her. We’re going to roll up and remove all of the area area rugs. That’s what she tripped over when she broke her leg. Then we’ll lower the bed to make it easier to for her to get in and out of it.

I’m still very concerned about her mental status. Her condition goes up and down almost daily and her judgement is impaired. She got mad because they won’t let her get in and out of the bed on her own, but she tripped the alarm quite a few times just to annoy them. She told me that she hadn’t tried to get up by herself in days. She doesn’t seem to understand that they think she’s trying to get up every time the alarm goes off.

I’m afraid she’ll decide to do something on her own at home with disastrous results. Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s anything more we can do prevent it. I’m just hoping her mental condition will improve when she’s in a familiar environment.
