The Thanksgiving dinner dance

Got to youngest sister’s house at around noon on Thanksgiving. Preparations were underway, but not yet completed. Youngest sister was running around trying to do everything at once and Mom was ironing. I took over the ironing and the Wonderful Spouse helped out everywhere. He even folded the napkins decoratively, and alternated the colors like it was something he did every day.

It was a little hectic, but with everyone pitching in, it wasn’t too hard. Getting everything on the table was like a dance. Everybody moving in unison and trying not to step on each other’s toes.

The food turned out delicious and the conversation was great. It was good to feel useful. Jennifer toasted Dad, the missing person at our table, and got us all crying, but it seemed only appropriate. I know we all miss him, we always will.

New to the party was my Dad’s cousin and her husband. It seems she misses having family to spend time with and we were all glad that she joined us.
